Chocolate Banana Mango Protein Smoothie

I love smoothies and this is one of my favorite recipes. Spring is here and this is the time to get back into making smoothies. Some people think it’s difficult to make smoothies but once you get the hang of it… it’s really quick and easy.

I start by using Almond Dream (vanilla flavored) instead of cows’ milk. I was using Rice Dream but since I’m cutting down on calories Almond Dream is 1/3 the calories. Depending if I want to make enough for there to be some left over so that I can put in a plastic glass and freeze it to have as a dessert later will determine how much Almond Dream I use.

Typically,  I’ll use 10 ounces of Almond Dream, 1/2 cup yogurt, 3/4cup frozen banana and 3/4 cup  frozen mango chunks, 4 scoops chocolate whey protein  powder and blend until smooth an creamy.
After it’s nice and blended I’ll put in 1/2 cup of  walnut pieces or raw almonds whichever I happen to have. I’ll blend for small bursts of 2 seconds each maybe 2 -3 times. I don’t want the nuts to be totally crushed. I want to be able to chew nice chunks of nuts while I drink my smoothie.

What’s left over freeze for a delicious frozen dessert!!
